Will's Woodland: Sustainable Architectural Design for a Healing Retreat in Collaboration with Little Hero

At Create It Studio Architects, we take pride in designing innovative, sustainable architectural projects that make a positive impact on our community and environment. We had the honour of collaborating with Little Hero, a charity dedicated to supporting families affected by childhood cancer, specifically brain tumours, and funding research for more effective treatments.

Sustainable Architectural Design for a Healing Retreat

Our shared vision resulted in Will's Woodland, an eco-friendly holiday retreat nestled in picturesque open countryside. This unique project allows families to escape the challenges of isolation and treatment, providing a much-needed sanctuary for healing and togetherness.

Designed with sustainability in mind, Will's Woodland features a timber-framed structure made from locally sourced materials. The green roof not only adds an aesthetic touch but also supports local biodiversity and enhances insulation. The circular design maximizes solar gains, while the elevated structure minimizes the use of concrete and steel, ensuring a low embedded energy construction.

As an architectural firm specialising in sustainable design, we embraced the opportunity to create an environmentally conscious space that supports the well-being of families facing the hardships of childhood brain tumours. Our partnership with Little Hero has been both humbling and rewarding, reaffirming our commitment to architecture that fosters hope and healing.
